Soon, the World Bank Group summit will start here in Singapore. It’s being held in Suntec City, a shopping mall / conference complex not very far from where I work. In Netherlands, I would say biking distance, but I wouldn’t really imagine biking there through the busy, biker unfriendly traffic.
So where the world will experience sweeping statements of eradicating poverty, my colleagues will most likely be more swept by the road blocks and bus line diversions. The safety measures are unprecedented. Not that it will affect me, as I take the Metro to work and back home.
